The Next Generation of Craftspeople
With a desperate decline of traditional craft skills LTM is committed to the development of the next generation of craftspeople, trained in traditional methods and the use of traditional materials.
LTM has made it their business to mentor, train and educate the future generation of craftspeople with the annual recruitment of Apprentice Stonemasons and training of Building Conservation Trainees through our in-house training programme.
Stonemasonry Apprenticeships
Stonemasonry apprentices undertake a 4 year craft apprenticeship supported by college studies. On successful completion of the apprenticeship and skills tests, apprentices will become recognised Stonemasons with the potential to progress further within the company, as many of our stonemason apprentices have done. LTM’s commitment and dedication to training and development is evident in its people with a number of former stonemason apprentices now working in senior positions within the company.
In-house Training Programme
In recognition of the decline of craft skills needed to repair, maintain and conserve out built heritage, LTM has developed an in-house training programme in Building Conservation. Trainees gain experience onsite whilst undertaking the training programme with the view to building their knowledge and understanding of masonry conservation works. Again, former trainees who have successfully completed the training programme are now in positions where they are training the next generation of Building Conservation Trainees.
