Building Conservation Technicians

Under guidance from the Foreman the trainee will undertake the Building Conservation in-house training programme. On successful completion of the programme the post holder will have a extensive understanding and experience of masonry conservation works including use and application of traditional materials and methods.

Building Conservation Trainees will assist in the day to day running of their designated project. They should be enthusiastic, willing to learn and committed to their chosen career. They should care for the buildings, the workplace and environment around them.

All employees are supported in acquiring the skills and knowledge however the postholder will be responsibility for managing their own learning through completion and submission of the required training record sheets which demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. These training record sheets will be assessed and if deemed competent will be submitted as part of the portfolio of work going towards the National Progression Award.

Key Responsibilites

  • To assist with building conservation works on site and learn the skills of a BCT by working alongside experienced team members.
  • Compliance with Health & Safety procedures as specified by the company at all times.
  • Delivery of quality and consistent workmanship.
  • Promote the best image and ethos of the company whilst working on site, ensuring client and public relations are maintained.

Core Tasks

  • Under direction from the Foreman ensure that work activities assigned to the jobholder are completed in accordance with instructions.
  • BCTs will be responsible for recording evidence of their training and development of their knowledge and understanding through regular submission of training record sheets for assessment.
  • To work as part of a team undertaking a variety of tasks.
  • An initial start up tool kit will be provided by LTM, however it will be the responsibility of the trainee to develop their hand tool kit until an adequate collection is achieved. It is essential for tools to be comprehensive, cleaned and maintained after use for undertaking fine craftsmanship.
  • BCTs should dress in and maintain, as clean as possible, the uniform and personal protective equipment issued by LTM.

Stonemasons

Support Site Manger with the day to day operations onsite ensuring the quality, timeliness and consistency of works, health and safety responsibility and supervision of operatives.

Key Responsibilites

  • Under instruction from the Site Manager assist in the day to day supervision of team activities, ensuring quality and consistency of workmanship to complete the project.
  • Ensure that quality processes are adhered to onsite.
  • Assist with the day to day supervision of team operatives ensuring that they comply with health and safety, i.e. wearing of appropriate PPE and carry out activities in a safe manner, in accordance with HSE regulations.
  • Deliver onsite training to operatives, identify and act upon areas of weakness in workmanship and ensure that any training undertaken is recorded by the operative.
  • Promote the best image and ethos of the company whilst working onsite, ensuring client and public relations are maintained.

Core Tasks

  • Under instruction from the Site Manager ensure that work activities that have been assigned are completed according to instructions and as per project plan.
  • Continuously demonstrate a complete understanding of masonry by ensuring quality of workmanship onsite, and that of operatives.

Plasterers

Responsibility for the management and delivery of plaster projects which have been assigned to the job holder, ensuring the quality, timeliness, efficiency and consistency of works and at all times in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Client, Client Representatives, Subcontractors/Suppliers, Contracts and Small Works Manager, Operations Manager, Senior/Site Manager, Team Leader and Site Operatives, Office and Stores Staff.

Key Responsibilites

  • Management of plastering projects in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Day to day supervision of team activities, ensuring quality, efficiency and consistency of workmanship to complete the project.
  • Ensure that team operatives comply with health and safety, i.e. wearing of appropriate PPE, carrying out activities in a safe manner, in accordance with HSE regulations.
  • Deliver on site training to operatives, ensuring the individual competencies are being met, identify and act upon areas of weakness in workmanship and that any training undertaken is recorded.
  • Assist the Site Managers in preparation of daily/weekly/monthly paperwork. In times of absence of the Site Manager, the Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring that these requirements are delivered for projects that they have been assigned.
  • Deliver the project as per programme and budget ensuring that company processes are followed. Any change to the project plan should be referred to Site Manager prior to taking any action, or in their absence the Contracts Manager.
  • Direct line management of team operatives, dealing with day to day enquiries including holiday requests, absences, grievances, disciplinary matters ensuring that these are reported and followed up with the office according to company policies.

  • Provide technical advice, recommend plastering solutions and execute works.
  • Under instruction from the Site Manager/Contracts Manager ensure that work activities that have been assigned are completed according to instructions.

  • Maintain accurate written records of works undertaken and submit all paperwork in a timely manner required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Ensuring that teams / sites are compliant with health and safety regulations. Reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences to Site Manager.
  • Delivery of toolbox talks to team operatives, ensuring that they are carrying out their activities in a competent manner.
  • Promote the best image and ethos of the company whilst working on site, ensuring client and public relations are maintained.
  • Utilise company regulations, policies and procedures, identifying areas for development and improvement in a pro-active manner.

Key Responsibilites

  • Delivery of assigned projects according to bill of quantities, budget and programme of works, ensuring consistent review and monitoring of above.
  • Day to day management of onsite activities and staff, ensuring quality and consistency of workmanship.
  • Supervision of subcontract works being conducted onsite, ensuring that workers are compliant with health and safety regulations, work requirements, and conduct.
  • Close communication with Clients / Clients Representatives, Operations Manager, Subcontractors and Suppliers to ensure that all project deliverables are met.
  • Ensure that quality processes are adhered to onsite.

Core Tasks

  • Ensure that contracts are delivered on schedule, keeping over-runs to a minimum and providing a proactive response to any potential delays in the programme, which may cause an over-run on budget.
  • Preparation and submission of weekly paperwork/relevant site documentation and within set time constraints to Project Administrator.
  • Liaise with QS regarding preparation and collation of monthly project valuations and invoice timesheets, to ensure that invoices are prepared and payment received in accordance with LTM processes.
  • Ensuring that teams / sites are compliant with health and safety regulations. Reporting of accidents and dangerous occurrences to relevant bodies.
  • Direct line management/supervision of team operatives including dealing with disciplinary/grievances, holiday requests and absences, ensuring that these are reported and followed up with the office as per company processes.
  • Deliver onsite training to team ensuring that individual competencies are being met, identify and act upon areas of weakness in workmanship.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and annual appraisals for team members.
  • Promote the best image and ethos of the company carrying out duties.
  • Utilise company regulations, policies and procedures, identifying areas for development and improvement in a pro-active manner.
