Doors Open Day, Law's CLose: LTM demonstrate lime mortar repointing
LTM Group helped the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust open Law's Close for the public on Doors Open Day, Sunday 12th September.
LTM supported the Trust by providing technical, practical advice on conserving historic buildings such as Law's Close.
Richard Fraser, Building Conservation Technician and Project Leader provided practical demonstrations on masonry pointing with lime mortars. Richard discussed and demonstrated the best practice of re-pointing masonry walls, from raking out loose and friable material through to protection and curing of the lime mortar.
The demonstrations were conducted on a carefully chosen section of the historic run-rig boundary walls. Richard was also supported by Zac Manning, Building Technician at LTM Consultancy to provide general techncial advice on building conservation.
